I teach a course at SHS called Commercial Design, 2D & 3D. As part of that course, we have a group sculpture that we work on collaboratively with the students of the class. We take a take a common item, for example ; an old outboard motor and we turn it into something else. We Steampunk it. We make it look futuristic, using items and materials common in the Victorian era AKA: The Age of Steam. It is great creative fun while learning everyday skills like, drilling, measuring, fastening, soldering, sawing, electrical wiring, sewing, and any skill necessary to make our retro-futuristic creations come to be. Hear are some of those sculptures.
